I finished the Cypress and Fog roombox in a 2010 class with The Guys from Texas. The box came assembled with all of its elements provided and partially finished by The Guys, so I can’t take a lot of credit for this gorgeous roombox. The focus of the class is on finishing techniques. This roombox complements the Oak Shadow Roombox , from a class I took with them in 2006. Read more about the Cypress and Fog on my blog .
Cypress and Fog
Here's the finished roombox. There are several lighting sources: a bulb behind the shoji screens, LEDs in the ceiling, and a red bulb in the fireplace.
Cypress and Fog
The furniture is a mix of Bespaq and Mission style pieces I built from kits. The tables on either side of the couch and chair by the fireplace are discontinued kits from Miniton Miniatures and the sideboard is a Daisy House kit. (

The Tiffany lamp is electrified, but there's no plug for it back there. The table next to the sofa is a discontinued Miniton Miniatures kit. I stitched the pillow from a
Janet Granger kit.
Cypress and Fog
There's a cliff / ocean scene outside, and the window has special glass that creates a fog effect.

This is a Bespaq chess set that I got on eBay.

The fireplace has a red bulb inserted into a pile of embers made by
Braxton Payne .

Another fireplace shot. The cattails, made from seed beads, were an estate sale find.

The door has an outdoor scene behind it, that's accessible from above.

Here's the top-down view of the outdoor area. I added the plant and the distressed green bench (which is so hard to see I forgot it was back there until I snapped this picture!)
